• Get an invitation to apply if the sponsor is a Commonwealth agency.
• Receive training directly from your sponsor (unless exempted).
• Join training that fits one of the approved eligibility types.
• Understand functional English to follow training and safety rules.
• Plan to stay in Australia temporarily.
• Meet health and character requirements.
• Have enough funds and health insurance for yourself and any family with you.
• Follow all other rules of your training program.

To become a sponsor for the Australian Training Visa (subclass 407), you must:

• Be a legal and active business in Australia, a government body, or an overseas government agency.
• Provide the training yourself unless an exemption applies.
• Have a clean record with no serious issues linked to you or your associates (unless the government decides to overlook them).
• Be able to meet all the responsibilities and requirements of being a sponsor.
