Children in Ireland are required to attend school from the age of six to sixteen, or until they have completed three years of secondary education.

Primary, secondary, third-level, and higher education are all part of the Irish educational system. Unless you opt to send your child to a private school, state-funded education is available at all levels.

Further education refers to education and training that occurs after completing secondary school but before entering the third-level system. It includes programmes such as the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme and Post-Leaving Certificate courses (second-chance education for the unemployed)

Colleges: There are seven universities, seven colleges of education, fifteen private higher education institutions, and fourteen institutes of technology in Ireland (IoT). In Ireland, there are a few more private third-level institutions that offer specialised education in fields such as business studies, art and design, law, medicine, and so on.

Universities: Universities, colleges, and institutes of technology, the majority of which are supported by the Irish government, make up higher education. Offers degrees of Undergraduate and Graduation both.
